GroundZero Culture Club in Salt River

Cape Town is swimming with talent, and none more promising than the talent coming from the younger generations. On Saturday, 29 July 2017, AfrA Foundation is bringing you the best in undiscovered skill from a multitude of genres. The event focuses on those aged 18 to 35, and gives them a chance to showcase their skills in music, art, film, photography, dance, design and poetry – all under one roof. The event will take place at Antioch Community Church in Salt River.

AfrA Foundation wants to connect young creatives with the experts in their fields; it will connect artists to gallery owners, musicians to producers, writers to publishers and designers to buyers. There is no better way to support the home-grown awesomeness of these youngsters than by lending them guidance and expertise. They’re local, lekker and totally ready to start their journey on the Cape Town creative scene. The AfrA Foundation is a local grassroots charity that focuses on developing the youth for a better future. Their name (AfrA) stands for ‘Africa for Africa’, and they run a multitude of youth programmes aimed at engaging the youth on their futures and encouraging them to aspire to bigger things.  

GroundZero takes place once every two months, with different professionals appearing at each installment. The events pop up at various venues all over Cape Town, and therefore provide a useful platform for talent across the entire city. At the July edition you can look forward to a recent Idols golden ticket winner Dehanre Kiewiets, the amazing Duncan Johnson (a jazz saxophonist), Jean van Blerk (a poet), and photographers like Nicholas Felix and Nicki Johannisen. Not to mention, there will also be other musicians, dancers, designers and artists in the mix.
