Capetonian Afrikaans rock band, Fokofpolisiekar, has been smashing out tunes and entertaining South African and European audiences since 2003. Thirteen years later and they still take to the stage regularly to perform live shows at local haunts. You can catch them on Friday, 5 August 2016 when they return to Assembly in Cape Town for another raucous gig.
The five-piece band, led by Francois Van Coke, has been stirring up controversy since it’s inception, with critics and religious leaders accusing them of being anti-religious, but South African’s can’t seem to get enough of their music. After touring the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom in 2006, the talented members of this controversial collective branched out and started other equally successful bands (Die Heuwels Fantasies, aKING and Van Coke Kartel). Seeing this wealth of talent and experience together on stage again will make this intimate show an evening worth remembering.
Assembly is running a competition for this event. Invite 50 or more friends to the event and email a screenshot of the evidence to Assembly, and you could win six tickets, a reserved VIP booth and a bottle of Jägermeister.
