The annual festive season is a time for generosity and relaxation – both of which you will find at Asoka; the popular Kloof Street restaurant that specialises in delectable Asian cuisine. During this period of celebration with friends and family, the restaurant will be switching up its style slightly to serve an array of lip-smacking dishes that will turn your festive into feastive.
Asoka will be open for Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day lunch and Christmas Day dinner, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. For the Christmas haul, aside from the usual a la carte menu, guests will be able to order from a special Christmas menu that features some Asian and Mexican cuisines.
Think succulent beef fillet on a bed of baby green leaves with fresh pico de gallo (tomato, onion and coriander salsa) and a chimichurri sauce. Or, if you prefer something less spicy, tuck into the juicy crayfish tail poached in rooibos and brandy butter, served with crispy polenta chips and an Asian slaw. For the vegetarian diners, you can have rolled aubergine stuffed with feta cheese and a slow-roasted tomato and coriander pesto, accompanied by a baby leaf salad, hummus and guacamole. For dessert, taste the more-ish deconstructed Asoka Christmas trifle with a complimentary homemade mince pie.

The restaurant will open its doors for a vibrant New Year’s Eve party that kicks-off at 7pm. This five-course dinner will be accompanied by special themed entertainment and live music from a saxophonist and various DJs. Unlike their Christmas celebration, the a la carte menu will not be on offer. Instead, an appetizing selection of canapés will be handed out upon arrival, and then the feasting begins; starters, main courses, desserts and friandises will all be expertly prepared and served to ensure you end 2016 with a taste explosion. You will be able to choose from the following dishes:
