Beer guzzling, craft and artisan loving fundis and foodies, get ready for the fourth year of the We Love Real Beer Craft Festival at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock - on Friday, 28 September 2012.
While the craft beer craze only took SA by storm in light of the hipster revolution of 2011, microbreweries have been around as early as the 80s, with Mitchells Brewery in Knysna. Where each brewery’s process of creation varies – from brewing beer in plastic buckets to copper kettles – the founding principles remain the same: the desire to brew something different using first-class ingredients, and the choice to forego the quantities of mega-mass production to produce a premium beer.
Visitors can look forward to some of the country’s top 20 microbeweries showcasing their unique flavours, the artisan foods synonymous with the Old Biscuit Mill’s Neighbourgoods Market, as well as DJs and bands for entertainment. Adding to the excitement this year, the festival has organised run-up food and beer pairings at various restaurants in the city.
Tickets are available through Webtickets.com as well as at the door on the day. The cost is R75p/p, which grants you access to the festival and includes a branded We ♥ Real Beer glass. If the previous years are anything to go by, it’s advisable that you book your ticket and get there early, the venue, while spacious, will fill up quickly.
