The Durbanville Wine Valley’s annual Season of Sauvignon splashes onto the events calendar again, with its off-the-beaten track offering of exceptional wines and good ‘ol country hospitality, from Saturday, 28 to Sunday, 29 October 2017.
Dedicated to celebrating the region’s zesty Sauvignon Blancs, the yearly food and wine festival (now in its 13th year) calls on 10 local farms to band together and help transform the area into one merry festival ground. Each winery plays host to its own intoxicating programme of events with the aim of providing the best for eager guests. This is a perfect way to understand and discover a bit more about the history behind the delish beverage.

Not to mention, those too young to sip and swirl their favourite wine by the gallon can count on conquering jumping castles, having their faces painted and muchmore.
PARTICIPATING WINE FARMS AT THE 2017 SEASON OF SAUVIGNON FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 SEASON OF SAUVIGNON FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL
DELICIOUS LOCAL WINES: As producers of some of the Western Cape’s top-notch vinos, each of the participating wine farms endeavours to present a unique event to celebrate the season of white wines and lead wine lovers on an excursion through the Sauvignon Blancs of the Durbanville area. While each farm offers tastings in a different format; wherever visitors settle, there’s an opportunity to try the farm’s take on this varietal and their most recent vintage. This year, there’s a chance to finally taste and purchase the Durbanville Twelve Sauvignon Blanc, which is a joint effort by all the winemakers in the valley, using grapes from all the farms.
FOOD AND MORE FOOD: Food is the natural accompaniment to wine, and the festival serves up a buffet of choice, from hearty country nosh to gourmet fare. Each wine farm has a menu specifically created to complement the star of the show, Sauvignon Blanc. There will be a range of culinary dishes and guests can look forward to trying everything from delicious sushi to oysters with some top-notch bubbly.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: Besides the gorgeous food and excellent vintages, patrons can enjoy the soothing sounds of live bands, while the little ones expend their boundless energy on a range of fun activities. Nearly all of the estates have some sort of musical performance and kiddie distraction on the bill.
