The most important thing to remember about life in Cape Town is that no matter the occasion, the situation, the circumstance; wine always makes it better. Following in the footsteps of the Pinotage on Tap Festival, this event promises the same enjoyment, but with white wine instead. A game of croquet completes the congenial atmosphere, with a potential game of boule providing yet another reason to stay longer and drink more wine.
Surely the best way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon, is wandering around the pristine gardens of the legendary Diemersfontein Wine Estate. Located only an hour outside of Cape Town, Diemersfontein needs no introduction, and neither does their wine. Barrels of the estate’s best white wine await visitors, with canapés and desserts to satisfy everyone’s appetite for good quality food. Vegetarian options will also be provided.
Diemersfontein is located in the lovely village of Wellington – a town known for its picturesque charm and inviting wine route. As this is a wine centred event, no under-18s are permitted; which gives parents the perfect excuse to find a babysitter, leave the kiddies at home and enjoy a relaxing break. What could be better than a hot summer’s afternoon, a chilled glass of white wine, and good food to bring it all together?
The theme of 2016’s White Wines on Tap is ‘white attire’; think Hamptons, laid-back sophistication, and mostly, think white wine. A mystery prize will be awarded to the guest deemed ‘best dressed’, so there really is no excuse not to throw on a pair of wedges, or dust off the classic white button down.
