30 years of democracy, 10 ways to celebrate
It goes without saying that our pretty city is buzzing with creative activity and, more specifically, world-class musical talent. But that being said, major concerts like the Cape Town Jazz Festival or internationally-headlined events aren’t always accessible to the average Capetonian.
And in so an effort to bring the Mother City a major music event at a budget-friendly rate, Wareley Media Group (WMG) has introduced the first-ever Cape Town Heritage Music Festival, which will take place on Saturday, 20 September 2014.
The inaugural affair, which aims to become an annual to-do, is set to throw down at the scenic Maynardville Park, and promises to bring young and old alike a 12-hour line-up of top local talent.
What’s more, in an effort to celebrate the upcoming Heritage Day on Wednesday, 24 September, the event is adopting a fitting theme – focusing on the history of local music in Cape Town, which is set to take listeners on a journey from District Six days of old to the Mother City we know today.
And for those who’ve never graced the green grasses of Maynardville Park, be reminded to bring along picnic blankets and chairs to make it a leisurely affair. Although attendees are not permitted to bring their own food and drink, there will be stalls selling tasty treats, drinks and even some boozy bevvies.
