BRAVE Dinner, Auction and Award Ceremony for Rock Girl

Be BRAVE and contribute to a very worthy cause

South Africa has one of the world’s highest incident rates for rape and sexual violence in the world, and that number is not on the decrease. Be a part of the change and support a very worthy local charity, Rock Girl, at the inaugural BRAVE Dinner, Auction and Awards Ceremony at Southern Guild in Woodstock on Saturday, 30 July 2016. 

Rock Girl is a grassroots organisation committed to inspiring, encouraging and investing in women and girls to stand them in better stead in South African society. Women from underserved communities are often severely affected by gender-based prejudice and violence, making Rock Girl’s work even more important. At this dinner all of the proceeds will go to Rock Girl, which will invest those funds into various schemes aimed at improving the quality of life for women from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2016 BRAVE DINNER, AUCTION AND AWARDS CEREMONY AT SOUTHERN GUILD

The dinner will be prepared by the lovely Karen Dudley, from the hugely popular Woodstock hotspot The Kitchen, making it guaranteed to be delicious. Guests will be seated at tables of twelve, which gives everyone a golden opportunity to meet with fellow minded people and embrace the difference that supporting this event will make. 

The auction will take place during dinner and will feature some one-of-a-kind pieces made especially for this event. Some of the goodies up for grabs are earrings by Kirsten Goss, a bespoke bench by Lionel Smit Art and Laurie Wiid van Heerden, a sensational meal at Hemelhuijs and more. There will also be a BRAVE pop-up shop that will have a selection of limited edition products on offer including necklaces, T-shirts, scarves and even a teen fragrance designed by Rock Girl in partnership with Frazer Parfum. 

The award ceremony will honour people from various categories for their commitment to creating and upholding a culture of non-violence. Rock Girl seeks to award one woman, one teenager and one business that show true dedication to fighting the problems that women in South Africa face today. You go girls!

The exhibition of all Rock Girl’s photographs, artworks and poems created on the road-trips that the initiative is so famous for will also take place on both Friday, 29 and Saturday, 30 July 2016 at Southern Guild in Woodstock. These works of art, both literary and visual, shed a curious light onto the work that Rock Girl does across our beloved country, and how the road-trips have affected those involved.

The added bonus (of course there’s an added bonus) is that BRAVE will unveil their new and never before seen mobile studio that was created in collaboration with Cape Town based Green Pop. Be one of the first to lay your eyes on this exciting development. 

Rock Girl is  one of the most supported Cape Town-based charities because it heroes those women often overlooked, taken for granted and neglected by our society. Whether you are male or female, Rock Girl is a cause that is wildly deserving of your support, with its reach extending to communities in need of assistance across the Cape.

Tickets are available online via Quicket.co.za for R500p/p. Every cent of the money you spend will go to the ladies at Rock Girl who deserve your support. The event starts at 7pm and finishes at 10pm. Guests will be seated on tables of twelve, so why not make it a girls’ night and bring along eleven charitable friends?
