Amasokolari Comedy Nights in Khayelitsha

It will be a night of firsts as some of the country’s top funnymen humour guests at the Malibongwe Restaurant

For the first time ever in Khayelitsha, Malibongwe Restaurant will host a stand-up comedy show. The Amasokolari (which means ‘The poor ones’) Comedy Night will begin at 6pm on Saturday, 4 July 2015, and will feature a selection of local and lekker comedians entertaining the masses with their best English and Xhosa jokes.

The event oranisers chose the name Amasokolari based on the idea that comedy is the best medicine so the townships should get the best comedians from Mzansi. The inaugural show promises some truly hilarious acts with well-known funnymen from around our fair country.

Comic Choice Awards winner for the 2014 Breakthrough Act Award, Kagiso Mokgadi, is one of the comedians on the line-up. Having been featured on Comedy Central last year and a regular entertainer on the Blacks Only Comedy Show, Mokgadi is one of South Africa’s foremost comedians right now.

Siya Seya is another talented act on the evening’s line-up. Seya was a finalist at the Nando’s Comedy Showdown in 2009 and 2010, and is a regular act at the 99% Xhosa Comedy shows in Cape Town. He will be cracking guests up in both English and Xhosa.

Other comedians on the night include Phila Mnyanda, Nkosinathi Maki, Khanyiso Kenqa and Phumlani Vokovi. These comedians have performed at various venues around the country, and will contribute barrels of laughs to the Cape’s comedy scene. So gather friends and family and prepare for a rib-splitting night of hilarious comedy by six fine funnymen.

TICKETS TO THE 2015 AMASOKOLARI COMEDY NIGHT IN KHAYELITSHA

Tickets to Khayelitsha’s first ever comedy show are available from Computicket.com and various Computicket outlets. Entry costs R60p/p and the doors will open at 5:30pm. The first 100 guests to arrive with their tickets will receive a free DVD from one of the talented comedians at the show.

Refreshments will be available at the show during a 15 minute interval. Please note that there will be a no under-18 age restriction.
