The Sunflower Fund Dinner
Dine under the African sky in support of The Sunflower Fund
The Sunflower Fund is hosting a charity gala evening in the tranquil valley of Stellenbosch at Moyo Spier this Youth Day, Saturday 16 June, to raise funds for the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).
Formed in 1999 by parents whose children suffered and struggled with leukemia, the Sunflower Fund aims to build and sustain the SABMR by recruiting donors, educating the public and fundraising. As the SABMR receives no national funding, the Sunflower Fund is crucial to increasing the chances that those diagnosed with leukemia will have access to life-saving transplants.
The Under the African Skies Youth Day auction is a chance for supporters to bid on magnificent offerings, like an African River Safari on the lavish 42 meter Zambezi Queen or a five-star gourmet meal on the “most luxurious train in the world”, the Rovos Rail, while contributing to a good cause and enjoying a lavish night of entertainment. Guests also stand a chance of winning an all inclusive two-night stay for two at the opulent seaside Birkenhead house in Hermanus.
So, come sit down at one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa – the Spier Wine Estate has a rich history dating back to 1692 – and enjoy the beats of the marimba band, the magnificent buffet cooked in the Moyo kitchen and the sprawling grounds of this Stellenbosch winery.
The tickets are R700p/p or R7000 p/table, and the gala starts at 6:30pm. Special rates have been arranged for accommodation, and for a small fee a shuttle service is available to guests.
