8 Dec 2008 - 8 Jan 2009

The Summer Sun Festival (SSF) is the biggest summer festival in South Africa. The festival hosts more than 1 million visitors every year, and this summer it is set to happen at the Diaz Strand Hotel in Mossel Bay from 8 December 2008 to 8 January 2009.
The festival welcomes celebrated Afrikaans music star Laurika Rauch, whose career spans over 20 years. She will be performing on 12 December 2008 at the Diaz Strand Hotel’s Pero Dias Theatre as part of the official launch of the 2008 Summer Sun Festival.
At the same time, be sure not to miss the first Diaz Decadence Festival, featuring an Amsterdam-esque street festival with a feast of fine wine. Cellars across the country will be partaking in this event, which will take place from 12 - 14 December 2008.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Miss Diaz beauty pageant. Twelve of the most gorgeous women will converge on the same stage to compete for the honour of becoming the 2008 Miss Diaz Strand.
The winner automatically qualifies for entry into the 2009 Miss South Africa Pageant. The Miss Diaz pageant will take place on 27 December 2008 and is guaranteed to be a fabulous night out with hostess Amore Vittone.
Prefer a more rugged approach to things? Try the Spar “Hot Summer of Touch” Touch Rugby Tournament, one of the biggest events on the festive season’s calendar for 2008/2009.
The event has been running for 30 years and has lost none of its momentum. The games kick off on 29 December, so swing past and see who will be found with their faces in the sand.
Live entertainment throughout the festival will include Chris Chameleon, Nianel and Mel Botes in a tribute to Pink Floyd, as well as many other celebrities.
Adding to the list of local celebrities, Ivan Zimmerman and Stefan Ludik will be MCs on the outside stage.
The Egoli Road Show will be in town over the festive season, so make sure you catch your favourite soap stars right there!
