Looking for something unique to do with the kids outside of Cape Town? The Good Hope Nursery is hosting their annual Spring into Fynbos Festival on Saturday, 29 September 2012, and with entertainment as enthralling for the little ones as it is for parents, the celebration is a fantastic family-friendly weekend activity and a perfect excuse to escape the bustle of the city.
Situated opposite the Cape Point Nature Reserve - just a 45-minute drive from Cape Town and just a stone’s throw from Scarborough - the Good Hope Nursery will transform from a home to indigenous plant life, like fynbos, succulents and more, to a vibrant festival ground for the day.
Visitors are invited to relax with a light lunch in the shady tea garden, take a leisurely stroll along the succulent walk, enjoy the creations of the fresh juice bar or peruse the second-hand clothing and book stalls. Alternatively, while guided fynbos tours are suspended for the day – due to big crowds – there’s nothing stopping you from traipsing along the fynbos-flanked paths for an up-close-and-personal-look at the Cape’s rich plant life.
Furthermore, gardening experts will be on hand, and great discounts on all plants are on the go. Not to mention, the tykes will have a blast, as there is plenty in the way of child-friendly entertainment: a jumping castle, face-painting and a playground.
Access to the nursery is free, as is access to the jumping castle and playground; face-painting costs between R20p/p and R30p/p, depending on the design.
