Scratch, beatboxer extraordinaire and member the Grammy award winning hip
hop band The Roots, will be performing live at The Independent Armchair
Theatre on 30 November.
Scratch is 1/3 beat boxer, 1/3 vocal turntables and 1/3 organic
producer. His work with The Roots has blown the minds of listeners
worldwide. Everything a DJ can do with a turntable, he can do with his
mouth! Where some may confuse him with Rahzel, The Godfather Of Noise,
Scratch lifts the art of beatboxing to an entirely new plain, taking
his incredible word warping and turntable imitation and fusing it with
a lethal dose of his original beats.
Scratch has performed
live with De La Soul, Pink, Jay-Z, Jill Scott, Jaguar, Mos Def, and has
appeared on albums by Pink, Jay Z`s (Unplugged), Musiq,
Soulchild
and Jill Scott. Scratch`s own debut album, "The Embodiment Of
Instrumentation" is the first ever 100% beat box album and features the
like of Jill Scott, Black Thought and Malik B (of The Roots), Bilal,
Rich Medina.
