South Africa has become a popular sports tourism destination over the last ten years and with the temperate climate, warm Indian ocean waters and the prevailing weather systems that provide excellent surf, it is undoubtedly one of the top watersport destinations in the world.

Durban, South Africa has been chosen by the World Waveski association as the venue for the 2006 World titles. SA Waveski has approved a world waveski tour as a pre Worlds warm up which will comprise of three pre tournament events:

• Cape Town, Big Bay Bloubergstrand - Western Province open - 17/19 June

• Jeffreys Bay, Supertubes - Eastern Province Open, 22/24 June

• East London, Nahoon Reef - Border open, 26/28 June

Each event will be run autonomously while at the same time forming part of the 2006 World waveski Series. Competitors who decide to participate in all three pre tour events (World waveski Series) will accumulate points from each event which will count towards final places. These pre tournament events are intended to attract as many top local and international competitors as possible.
