Knysna, but not the Knysna you think

Fed up with the overpriced, uber pretentious, endlessly disappointing New Year’s Eve parties in the Cape Town city centre? Say no more (and look no further). Rock the River SA, the annual NYE outdoor music festival just a short drive from the CBD, gives jaded revellers the chance to ring in 2013 at a beautiful venue amidst amped up vocals, seething bass and wicked riffs.
The five-day jol (Friday, 28 December 2012 to Tuesday, 1 January 2013) features three stages – a main rock ‘n roll stage, an electronic stage and a metal stage – over 200 local artists and a jam-packed line-up of off-the-hook festival activities (last year’s party included sumo wrestling, hostile paintball and a shredder competition – need we say more). What it doesn’t showcase is trumped up city centre traffic and winding queues; so, if you’re keen to bid farewell to 2012 and usher in the new year sans the shortcomings of inner city soirees, listen up.
The venue for the 2012/2013 Rock the River New Year’s Festival
The venue for the party has been confirmed; the flat out (on a lilo) jol will be hosted at the Savannah Farm in Paardeberg also known as Perdeberg (we prefer party-berg), a region snug in the warm heart of the Boland roughly 20 minutes from Durbanville. As always, the locale will flaunt a shaded campground and a bangin’ water feature ideal for summer swims, and this year, there will be a Heartbreak hotel luxury camping option, the miraculous go-to ‘glamping’ accommodation for all those keen to just ‘pull in’ and ‘chill out’.
More specifically, the Heartbreak comes complete with pre-pitched tents, bedding, plug points for hair dryers and cell phone chargers, hot showers, private toilets and even porters to help with luggage.
Tickets for 2012/2013 Rock the River New Year’s Festival
