Ian P. Venganai proudly presents the season finale of the Cape Town edition of the wildly popular Poetry Delight
Poetry Delight Cape Town was launched on 6 August at Café Sofia in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
It was a great success on the first night and sold out at every show thereafter, quickly gaining public acclaim and receiving glowing reviews in various printed and online media.
The Season Finale gala dinner takes place on Friday 3 October at Cafe Sofia with Good Hope FM partnering to do a live broadcast covering the night.
Hosted by the charismatic Nhati, a poet and MC in his own right, it consists of a line-up of the season’s best 14 spoken word / slam poets and music artists such as Broken Soul, Black Anakin, Lerato, Poetry, Metabolism, Xolisa and Thobekile to mention but a few.
With only 30 exclusive tables available at R1,000 each, the event is guaranteed to be an unforgettable night of glamour and entertainment filled with explosive Cape talent.
Having established itself as the first poetry show of its kind within the Western Cape to film performers in front of a live audience for television, Poetry Delight continues to grow, inspire and promote literacy through the production of African writing delivered by vibrant voices by showcasing the unique talents of poets, musicians and artists from young to old.
Commercially the Poetry Delight brand is setting a precedent as a new street movement of underground unsigned artists that are represented through viable commercial platforms that include media avenues such as television, radio, print and the internet, with the facilitation of corporate endorsements and licensing that cross from local to global networks.
The brand shares 10% of its revenue with the artists.
Following Poetry Delight, Cape Town will see the commencement of Crackers Delight Cape Town in November, while the Poetry Delight Johannesburg edition runs concurrently.
Internationally the Poetry Delight brand has editions due to start up in New York and Atlanta.
