Nelson Mandela 27 For Freedom Race
Over three thousand people are expected to take part in this legacy event
The Nelson Mandela 27 For Freedom Race is a tribute to the 27 years that Nelson Mandela spent as a political prisoner and commemorates the 21st anniversary of his release.
The day’s activities are perfect for the family and include entertainment from local artists such as Kurt Darren and Emo Adams, an exhibition of Madiba’s life and guided tours through the house where he spent the last three years of his incarceration; a tourist information stand and yummy food which will be on sale at the Farmers market.
The winner of the 27km race will receive a genuine 1-ounce gold coin sponsored by the South African Gold Coin Exchange and valued at R20 000; and every participant who crosses the finish line will receive a commemorative medal.
