21 August 2008
The 2008 Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction Showcase to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Thursday, 21 August 2008.
Taste rare South African auction wines, meet the crème de la crème of South Africa’s winemakers and be entertained by the vibrant music of Zamar.
This Auction Showcase gives wine lovers the opportunity of meeting the 38 of the best South African winemakers that constitute the Guild and to sample some of the finest wines produced in South Africa in an informal and interactive tasting.
Visitors will be able to bid for individually signed bottles of exclusive auction wines in the Silent Auction in aid of the Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Development Trust which assists with education, training and empowerment of young people from previously disadvantaged wine farming communities.
A live music performance will be featured for the first time this year, to create a more festive and relaxed atmosphere in which to taste the wines and get to know the winemakers.
Zamar is a group of five dynamic musicians using strings, accordion and percussion to create music to suit everyone’s tastes from folk music to contemporary classics, gypsy to jazz.
This year the Showcase will be feeding more than the soul with oysters, bubbly, sushi, wraps and spring rolls on offer.
All the wines at the Showcase were made exclusively by members of the Guild for the 23rd Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and will go under the hammer at the CTICC on Saturday, 27 September.
