NDORFIN Day Adventure Extreme fun with trail run, kayaking and mountain biking on 'Day of Play ' for South Peninsula
NDORFIN Day on 16 December will have Cape Town's South Peninsula
abuzz with outdoor action with an extreme adventure event. A whole
range of adventure activities will be happening, including a trail run,
kayaking and mountain biking.
The South Peninsula area in the region
of Simons town and Fish Hoek will be abuzz with outdoor action once
again on 16 December 2006. With a range of outdoor events planned as
part of NDORFIN Day, a crowd of adrenaline seekers are expected to get
stuck into an adventure menu boasting everything from Trail Running and
Ocean Paddling to Four-cross Mountain Biking.
NDORFIN Day will allow visitors to experience
facets of the ‘Deep South' that only a handful of fortunate locals
usually get to enjoy. A running route and MTB cross country track will
bang you into a fresh air zone fragrant with the aroma of fynbos, while
scuba diving, snorkeling and sea kayaking excursions will add a dollop
of aqua action.
The flagship event, an EXTREME SOUTH off-road triathlon, will kick off at 07h00 with a trail run, to be followed at 09h00 with (Mountain Biking (MTB) and paddling at 11h00.
This will give participants the opportunity
of either entering individual events or all three. Team entries are
also an option. Featuring very big on the menu is the SA Four-Cross MTB
Championships, the first event of its kind in South Africa. SuperSport
will be on hand to capture the action for TV, while the course will
draw riders to the South Peninsula for years to come.
Most of the fun will centre around the
event centre at the Southern Right Hotel, on Glencairn beach and on the
nearby Navy Fields. Those in the mood for a slightly less strenuous
experience, may partake in a boule competition, browse the food stalls,
visit a Cape Point Route Expo, go for a beach walk or just laze on the
deck while watching the fun.
The NDORFIN Adventure Calendar launch
will also take place in Embargo's at 19h00, featuring DVD footage of
extreme sporting events around the world. A top DJ will be slamming the
decks, with adventurers from all over the country partying way into the
night.
NDORFIN, the Cape Town-based sports media company, will
be collaborating with Cape Point Route, Quantum Adventures, The Bike
Hut, Full Circle, Paddlers and Southern Right Hotel to present NDORFIN
Day. The various role players envisage that this event will grow into
an annual adventure festival to showcase the various outdoor activities
on offer in the South Peninsula.
