Celebrating the contribution of the African population to the economy of our country.
Visitors will be treated to a healthy mix of the sights and sounds that capture the essence of the “Afropolitan” Lifestyle in all its splendour.
From life learning to luxurious hospitality lounges, orchestrated networking opportunities and a fashion component featuring cutting edge local designers that cater for the quintessential African Trade Mark!
The entertainment comprises a showcase of our favourite leading Afro-Fusion bands and hilariously outspoken, irrelevant and wickedly witty comedians.
Another exceptional feature of this festival is the incorporation of the popular Gugulethu based Mzoli’s Place, where guests can enjoy Tshisa Nyama, and music at a special marquee erected on the grounds of the CTICC.
With an estimated turn out approximately 12, 000 visitors at each festival, we aim to build THREE solid annual events in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg with loyal attendees who appreciate and patronize brands that support their festival.
South Africa has given birth to a variety of exceptional entertainment styles that reflects the versatility of our identity.
Being a festival that celebrates local talent, an incredible line up of our favorite stand up comedians and Afro-Fusion live music is expected to draw thousands of people from across the country with a palette for entertainment that resonates with our identity as a proud African Nation.
The Line up is as follows:
Miss Lira: Undoubtedly one of the hottest performing artists in South Africa, Lira is our newest Jazz super Star. This SONY/BMG signed artist's popularity stretches beyond the borders of South Africa.
CODA: A mesmerizing collaboration representing a fresh new wave of contemporary South African music, CODA brings together local and international influences by combining influences of African music with electric strings and DJ.
This uniquely home-grown sound has become the personal favorite of many South Africans, including some of the country's most famous leaders.
Freshly Ground: A multiracial, multinational seven-piece ensemble perfectly blends Afro beats, funk, dance, classical influences and jazz to produce a unique sound loved by its growing following. They have gone Global!
The Three Young (Gugulethu) Tenors: An amazing trio who share a passion for opera, a bold music choice in a society infatuated by hip hop and kwaito.
Jimmy Dludlu: A multiple award winning Globe trotting Jazz Maestro who combines both traditional and modern elements of jazz.
Hout Bay Music Project: A social upliftment program comprising an incredible orchestra of highly talented children from the Houtbay informal settlement. This project gives real meaning to the words “team work” “creativity” and “hard work”.
Loyiso Gola: Six Foot (Plus) tall, politically incorrect, often irrelevant, hilariously outspoken, leaves the crowd screaming for more of his delightfully offensive self-depreciating comedy.
Ndumiso Lindi: A star is the making, Nduru is a graphic designer turned comic who provides a hilarious insight into the “new” South Africa- Especially Black South Africa. What a laugh!
Venue: Cape Town International Convention Center.
Opening & Closing Times of Exhibition Halls:
Friday: 11.30hrs -19.00hrs
Saturday: 09.00hrs-19.00hrs
Sunday: 09.00hrs- 19.00hrs
Molo says: “Read more about the Tshisa Nyama at Mzoli’s during the event. Looking for accommodation next to the Convention Centre for an easy night sleep? Contact us for accommodation within walking distance of the CTICC in Cape Town .
