Helmut Lotti, the renowned and successful singer and songwriter from Belgium, is returning to South Africa after a 10-year absence to perform at Grand West’s Grand Arena on Sunday 2 November 2008.
Lotti, whose interest in music was first sparked by Elvis Presley, spent much of his younger years impersonating the king of pop. Since then he has broadened his musical repertoire to include not only crooning but also soul, pop and classical genres and, more recently, swing.
In his new ‘Time to Swing’ concert, Lotti offers his audience two hours of pure entertainment. The first half of his show is dedicated to the era of swing and features songs from his latest CD including “Fly me to the moon”, “Bad, bad Leroy Brown”, “Mack the knife”, “That’s life”, “Fever” and “King of the road”.
In the second half of the show Helmut will perform his most popular hits, not forgetting to pay tribute to his idol, Elvis.
Lotti will be supported on stage by a full complement of big band musicians including his own international rhythm section, a brass ensemble with trumpets and trombones, strings and choir.
To date, 52 of his albums achieved gold status and a further 72 have gone platinum. Now, with Lotti’s latest show, the era of big bands never sounded so good.
