Greyton Annual Rose Fair

Flood your senses with a feast of florals at the 25th Greyton Rose Fair

‘But he that dares not grasp the thorn should never crave the rose.’ Anne Bronte

All things bright and beautiful grow in Greyton: as is proved by this year’s annual rose fair that showcases the prettiest blossoming blooms this side of the Western Cape. Happening on Thursday, 29, and Friday, 30 October 2016, Greyton’s Rose Fair celebrates its 25th green-fingered affair in flourishing style, with a plethora of garden-friendly functions.

The most anticipated event is the cut rose display, which will unfurl its whorl of petals in the DRC Hall. Hundreds of different rose blooms will extend across the floor, filling the air with sweet fragrances, and treating the eyes to myriad pastel colours. Aside from this phenomenal flower display, there’ll additionally be a morning market on the Saturday, and a number of open gardens for guests to grace.

Organised by the community, the Greyton Rose Fair is a pretty event in more ways than one as the profits raised from the show go towards community projects. In keeping with this year’s theme of ‘put a smile on a child’, the money raised will assist local charities that help underprivileged children.

Be sure to pop into the numerous open gardens to view some of Greyton’s foremost gardeners’ excellent work. From happy herb gardens to verdant veggie patches, there’ll be plenty of gorgeous green zones for guests to explore. The market is also most definitely worth a visit, with approximately 200 stalls selling food, flowers and everything nice (look out for the pancakes with fresh lemon curd).
