FIFA World Cup 2010 Qualifying Groups Draw
The draw for the main 2010 World Cup qualifying groups will be held in Durban, South Africa on November 23, 2007. As the host nation, South Africa qualifies automatically



The first step for countries to qualify for the FIFA Soccer World Cup in 2010 is the World Cup Qualification Draw. (view Results 2010 draw & Qualification Groups )

Durban, South Africa, is to host the qualifying draw for the 2010 Soccer World Cup Groups. On November 27th 2007 163 teams world wide begin the qualification process to identify the 32 teams that will finally compete the 2010 World Cup Final 2010 to be held in South Africa.

The FIFA 2010 qualifying draw will be made on a region by region basis, with each confederation allocated a number of qualifiers. Each confederation will engage in a number of preliminary pre-qualifying matches in order to select the teams that will represent them at the at the 2010 World Cup.

Europe (UEFA) will see 53 teams competing for the 13 available places for the World Cup in South Africa. Conmebol (South America will have 4 or 5 qualifying places for 2010 from their 10 teams.

North, Central America and the Caribbean (
CONCACAF) will see which of their member 35 teams play in order to battle it out to be one of the 3 or 4 teams that will eventually go into the Word Cup Final Draw.

Asia's (AFC) 42 members will see
who they have to play in order to win one of their available 4 or 5 places for the 2010 World Cup Final. CAF (Africa ) will see 53 teams competing with each other to win one of 6 World Cup Berths.

And lastly Oceania (OFC) members will know what 11 teams compete against each for the possible one place at the World Cup in 2010.

The World Cup 2010 Qualifying Draw event is the first step in a three year process that will whittle down 163 Fifa member states to the eventual 32 countries that will meet at the World Cup final in South Africa 2010. The list of the countries qualified for the Soccer World Cup in 2010 has a first country on it already; South Africa. As the organising country South Africa's National Soccer Team, Bafana Bafana, automatically qualifies for the 2010 World Cup and is group leader in Group A in FIFA 2010

Eventually: FIFA 2010
Eight groups of six football teams and one group of five will contest the European qualifying competition for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The nine group-winners will qualify directly, while the highest ranked eight of the nine second-placed teams will contest home and away play-off matches for the remaining four places.
In determining the rank of second-placed teams, only results against those finishing 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th will be counted.
