South Africa will be hosting the FIFA 2009 Confederations Cup from 14 June – 28 June 2009.

The Confederations Cup is traditionally a build up to the World Cup and hosted by the host of the World Cup the year after.

The cities hosting games during the 2009 Confederations cup are also cities that will be hosting games during the Soccer World Cup in 2010. The host cities and their stadiums are:

• Johannesburg (Ellis Park Stadium)
• Pretoria (Loftus Versfeld Stadium)
• Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Stadium)
• Bloemfontein (Free State Stadium)
• Rustenburg (Royal Bafokeng Stadium)

The soccer teams participating in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 are the national teams of South Africa, Italy, USA, Brazil, Iraq and Egypt.

In addition to these teams the winner of the UEFA Euro Cup 2008 and the winner of the 2008 OFC Nations Cup (Oceania) will also take part in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa.
