Eat, drink and be merry at this iconic Cape Town hotel this Christmas

Celebrate Christmas Day in Cape Town at one of the city’s most renowned hotels, the Mount Nelson. The Pink Lady, the five-star accommodation’s endearing nickname, offers revellers the option of dining at the swanky Planet Restaurant, feasting in The Ballroom or opting for the after-lunch delight of afternoon tea in the lounge. Entertainment for the day includes a visit from the round-bellied jolly man, Santa himself as well as a magician and a face painter.

Christmas Day at Planet Restaurant

The upmarket Planet Restaurant, a swanky eatery known for its elite clientele, decadent food and delicious cocktails, offers diners a five-course set menu for Christmas lunch. Sultan of swing, Haydn Gardner will provide the soundtrack to this scrumptious festive lunch, and guests receive a glass of bubbly on arrival. A cash bar is available and waitrons will take your order.

Tickets: Lunch is served at 12:30pm. Dress code for the lunch is smart casual and costs R950p/p; price includes a glass of bubbly, some festive novelties and a service charge. Do note that there is no children’s menu available.

Christmas Day in The Ballroom

Dine amidst the opulence of the majestic Ballroom at the Mount Nelson. Draped in cream and gold and rich with a plush red carpet, this regal venue will transport guests into a world worthy of kings and queens. Comprising of two inter-connected rooms and an adjoining tent, the space plays host to a festive buffet that will no doubt be a grand affair. Not to mention, with a vast and varied assortment of the finest fare, there will be something to suit all palates, old and young.

Tickets: Lunch is served at 12:30pm. Dress code is smart-casual and costs R700p/p for adults and R350p/p for children under 12. Guests receive a glass of bubbly on arrival, festive novelties and the service charge is included.

Afternoon Tea in the lounge on Christmas Day

End off your festive lunch celebrations with something sweet. Afternoon Tea at the Mount Nelson is by no means less impressive than its festive counterparts. From petit fours to slices of decadent cakes, high tea stakes claim to a menu of treats that will delight any sweet tooth.

Tickets: Dress code is smart-casual and costs R265p/p and tea is served from 2:30pm.
