Canal Walk X Week is widely recognised as the premier extreme sports and youth culture festival.

The event showcases the best of South Africa's alternate sportsmen and women who perform fearless stunts on skateboards, BMX and in-line skates.

The urban street culture that goes hand-in-hand with these sports is also showcased through the inclusion of graffiti artists, hip-hop DJ's and breakdancers or b-boys as they have come to be known in recent years. New additions to this year's X Week include mountain bike trials and speed climbing.

A specially constructed extreme sports arena will be created in the mall's centre court, allowing visitors to the mall to watch the crazy antics from two different levels as well as on the massive screens.

 The event will offer spectators the chance to see group demonstrations by our top athletes, combining the disciplines of skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX as they twist and turn high above each other while renowned hip-hop DJ, Ready D, creates the soundtrack of total madness.

Canal Walk X Week will offer visitors to the mall an opportunity to take part in the event. Athletes will attempt to set a new record for the highest air, an event which is sure to have plenty of action as competitors reach new heights to stake their claim as the new record holder.

Three mountain bike trial demonstrations will be on offer daily for the duration of the event and athletes will be available after events to discuss the sport with interested spectators.

Last on the list of activities is the climbing wall which towers to a height of 10m. The wall will be constructed in the heart of the action sports arena and will serve as the competitive area for speed climb challenges.
