Blisters for Bread Fun Charity Walk

Get your walking shoes on and get ready for a few blisters in the name of charity and fun for the whole family

Thousands of walkers will be descending on Green Point Stadium this 31 August 2008, to participate in this charity fun walk.

While the entire family experiences a fun day out, they will be raising money to enable the Peninsula School Feeding Association to provide daily meals for hungry children.

This fundraising event was first introduced to Cape Town almost 30 years ago Since then it has grown in popularity, and this year, organisers are expecting up to 12 000 entries to walk and raise money for charity.

Funds raised will help to provide meals for 12 000 school children, which includes a daily serving of 3 200 kg of jam, 1 600kg of peanut butter and 160 000 cups of Nutri-A. Most of the schools involved, now also receive a hot meal.

The race will start at the Green Point Track opposite the fantastic new Green Point Stadium, and walkers will make their way along the Atlantic Seaboard.

As always, there will be a choice of three distances - the 20km walk starting at 9h00, the 10km walk at 09h30 and the 5km walk at 10h00.

Entry is barred to dogs, skateboards, bicycles or wheelie shoes but people of all ages are asked to encourage their families, colleagues, neighbours and communities to join in on this great event.

Refreshments and professional medical facilities will be provided along the route and participants are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes.
