Barleycorn Music Club
34 years of supporting and nurturing SA’s best local and original music
The Barleycorn club was founded all the way back in 1975 when a group of musicians found it agreeable to meet regularly, learn from one another and consume beer.
To this day the club is run by a group of unpaid volunteers and has played a defining role in the careers of some of South Africans greats such as; David Kramer (who recorded his first CD at the club there), Flat Stanley, Amapondo, Freshly Ground, Steve Newman and Tony Cox to name a few (it’s a seriously long list).
As a non-profit organisation all money raised by the club is held in a trust for the advancement and promotion of local musical talent. Each evening showcases up to four acts.
Line-up for Monday, 27 May 2013:
- Jamie Jupiter
- Riot Waif
- Soldier
Get there early to secure your seat. Entrance is R20p/p for members and R30p/p for non-members. Drinks and snacks are available at the club.
