The Kite Festival will again take place at Zandvlei, in Muizenberg, and entry will remain a donation of only R5. Up to 25,000 people gather at this scenic site each year to witness spectacular show kites flown by national and international kiters.

The atmosphere is festive and we invite all to experience the sights, smells and sounds of various food, crafts and clothing stalls, the entertainment, famous personalities, various competitions and much more.

October is National Mental Health Awareness Month, so it is the perfect time for a kite festival that promotes Healthy Minds.

What to expect at the 2008 kite festival:

• Spectacular show kites, flown by international teams from Japan, USA, India, Malaysia, Germany, China as well as local kiters from Cape Town and Durban
• A variety of Stalls (food, crafts, clothing, organic produce, health products)
• Live entertainment
• Activities and loads of fun for children
• Kite-making workshops
• The Edu-kite Schools’ Competition, showcasing kites made by learners of participating schools

There will also be stalls sponsor opportunities and of course not forgetting Spectacular Show Kites - all of this for a charity and awareness campaign!
