2008 Cape Town International Kite Festival

The Cape Town International Kite Festival will again take place at Zandvlei, in Muizenberg, from 25 - 26 October 2008. Up to 25,000 people gather at this scenic site each year to witness spectacular show kites flown by national and international kiters.
This is certainly one of the best things to do with kids in Cape Town.
The atmosphere is festive and everyone is invited to experience the sights, smells and sounds of various food, crafts and clothing stalls, the entertainment, famous personalities, various competitions and much more.
October is National Mental Health Awareness Month, so it is the perfect time for a kite festival that promotes Healthy Minds.
What to expect at the 2008 kite festival:
- Spectacular show kites, flown by international teams from Japan, USA, India, Malaysia, Germany, China as well as local kiters from Cape Town and Durban
- A variety of Stalls (food, crafts, clothing, organic produce, health products)
- Live entertainment
- Activities and loads of fun for children
- Kite-making workshops
- The Edu-kite Schools’ Competition, showcasing kites made by learners of participating schools
