Indulge in Elgin Valley’s annual food and wine fiesta

The harvest festivals have mostly come to an end but that doesn’t mean the wine fun has to stop. Explore the best vino the Elgin Valley in the Overberg region has to offer at the Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival, which is happening in this beautiful part of the world on Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 April 2018.

Some 16 of the top wineries in the Elgin Valley will be opening their cellar doors and offering wine connoisseurs (and enthusiasts) and foodies a decadent day of fine reds and whites, delicious dishes and live entertainment for the entire family. Each participating winery will be presenting a unique programme, and visitors can tailor-make their experiences for an amazing day out.

The entertainment line-up includes performances by Sam and Calla, Off-Line Eexterity, Kathryn Swain and more. What’s more, art exhibitions, tractor rides, face painting and a jumping castle, will have both old and young spoilt for choice.

Good wine is best enjoyed with good food, and rest assured that there will be plenty to choose from.  Expect pop-up kitchens and food truck serving everything from pulled pork rolls to sushi, tapas, burgers, and pizza. Or snack on candy floss, popcorn and the like. Each venue offers different dishes along with their signature wines to tantalise the taste buds and keep those bellies filled.

Conveniently, the Elgin Valley is just 70km from the city which makes for an easy overnight trip. Go on, support this young vino fiesta that is seeking to establish the region as a first-rate food and wine destination.

TICKETS FOR THE 2018 ELGIN COOL WINE AND COUNTRY FOOD FESTIVAL

Tickets are R150 per person and includes an armband and a wine tasting glass for free wine tasting at participating wineries. The golden tickets are R200/p, which gives visitors access to special tastings at participating wineries, such as vertical tastings and older vintages.
