On Cape Town's Clifton beaches, days are spent throwing frisbees, watching beautiful women and men, playing beach ball, sun bathing and relaxing. 

The Clifton beaches of Cape Town were rated as a top ten most beautiful beach in the world by Discovery Travel Channel. Cape Town's Clifton beach also received a Blue Flag status, an eco-label of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Clifton was once known as Schoenmakers Gat or Cobblers Cave, due to an old shoemaker living in the Clifton caves. He mended  shoes of farmers on their way to Cape Town. Around 1890 Schoenmakers Gat was renamed after the lady who ran the only hotel in the area, Bessie Clifton.

Nowadays Clifton is famous for its pick nicks on the beach with full moon, and its fire dancers on monday evening (may also be at Maiden's Cove this season)
