The bold sounds of the marimba will entertain audiences at this year's Marimba Jam Festival on Saturday 18 August at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Auditorium in Parow. Schools from across the Western Cape will participate in this year’s festival, where percussion-lovers come together to celebrate this unique instrument with its deep, rich tones.

This year’s theme ‘Finding the Harmony in Community’ is pretty fitting in terms of what Marimba Jam aims to do. The company originally sprang from an initiative to share the joy of playing marimbas with learners who had not had the opportunity to do so. Marimba Jam aims to promote cultural harmony and provide pupils with a fun and healthy means of expression.

Over 350 learners will participate in this year’s festival, with performances from Springfield Convent, Wynberg Girls, SACS High School and Cedar House among many others. The show will also include performances from the senior bands of Marimba Jam.

TICKETS FOR THE 2018 MARIMBA JAM FESTIVAL
Tickets can be bought via https://www.quicket.co.za/. Prices are R120/p for adults and R70/p for students. All profits go towards the Marimba Jam Outreach Programme.
