Cape Town We Are One Colour Festival
South Africa’s first outdoor electronica colour festival returns to the Grand Parade with an international headliner and a second dose of paint powder-fuelled fun
If you missed out last year, this is your chance to paint the Mother City a rainbow of colours at the 2014 Cape Town We Are One Colour Festival (formerly the Holi One Colour Festival) at the CBD’s Grand Parade on Friday, 21 March 2014 (it's Human Rights Day).
Brought to you by the award-winning agency behind Rocking the Daisies, this edition of the vibrant extravaganza promises to make your bootie bop with some of the Mother City’s freshest and hottest artists as well as international DJ and record producer Felix da Housecat, who hails from the birthplace of house music, Chicago, Illinois.
Inspired by the traditional Hindu Holi Festival, which celebrates the coming of the spring season, the riotous outdoor electronica party was the first of many colour events to descend on Cape Town in 2013, attracting thousands of powder-mad party-goers for a shindig like no other.
The phosphorescent celebration – the series has been hosted from Berlin to Munich and from the USA to Singapore – encourages playfulness and calls on revellers to pummel each other with fistfuls of vibrantly coloured powder (it gives new meaning to the term ‘rainbow nation’) while house, techno, progressive and more reverberate in the background.
Hosted in one of the city’s most beautiful public spaces, the colour carnival invites festival-goers to unite in their love for music, dance and performance art, and to groove the day away as hourly bursts of brightly coloured clouds descend on the historic CBD square.
