Superette, my favourite café

Contemporary design, good coffee and feel good food at the Superette café in Woodstock

Cape Town's industrial suburb of Woodstock is becoming really hip. Warehouses, dilapidated houses and other interesting buildings are being renovated in a glowing array of colours that stand out. Superette is such a place. Cameron Munro and Justin Rhodes - the guys who started the ever popular Neighbourgoods Market and WHATIFTHEWORLD gallery at the Old Biscuit Mill - once again had a great idea. This time it was a café. I like. In fact the Superette is my favourite café in the whole of Cape Town.

The interior is simple and stylish, combined with some antique pieces as well as South African art. The local flavour - in design and food – is a concept that resonates with me. Chefs Lyndall Maunder and Aisha Redpath Treppo serve up some affordable delicacies. Quality is the magic word that you can really taste in all the dishes. For breakfast I recommend the All-Day Breakfast - a sourdough bread with scrambled eggs, rocket, roasted tomatoes and bacon - yummy, yummy, yummy. And coffee, freshly roasted by Deluxe Coffee Works: A "Flat White" please.

Choose and order at the bar. Then have a little stroll through the Superette shopping section. From dishes to honey and benches, there’s a lot to browse and you’re bound to find just the thing you’ve been missing in your own kitchen. When your food is ready, you’re in for a treat. Almost every day I feel like having a tasty Superette breakfast (or lunch); there’s always a good selection of fresh products, sandwiches, salads and more. Healthy, organic and tasty.

After relishing the treats at Superette, I suggest a little visit to the gallery WHATIFTHEWORLD next door! Enjoy. Well, there’s nothing more to say. Superette is simply my favourite. Check it out. Taste. Come back for more.
