On the Move

The ultra marathon and half marathon registration takes place in Cape Town’s Good Hope Centre from 19 – 21 March 2008.
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Expo also takes place at the Good Hope Centre and the times are as follows:
Wednesday 19 March: 12h00 – 19h00
Thursday 20 March: 10h00 – 19h00
Friday 21 March: 09h00 – 19h00
The expo focuses on everything there is to know about running (or road running specifically) from shoes, clothes heart rate monitors, vitamins, nutrients, fitness aids and energy boosters to name but a few.
Receive racing tips and pacing charts from Old Mutual Virtual Coach, Dave Spence at the Old Mutual Stand.
It is essential for runners to go to the expo to collect their race numbers and goody bags. They must also remember to bring their race acknowledgement card, ID and champion chip (if they have one) to the registration to avoid long lines.
With close to 19 000 runners partaking in the 2008 event, organisers are expecting most of the upcountry participants to register on Friday.
Good Friday Fun Run
For the less fit, but still fit at heart, there is the Two Oceans Fun Run, where you can enter the 2.5, 5 or 8km run (or walk).
This takes place on the 31st of March from 12h00 and starts at the UCT Sports Grounds.
For children under 3 years of age, there is the Nappy Dash, and a 300m Toddlers Trod for kids aged 4 to 6 years.
There will also be plenty of lucky draw prizes plus loads of fun and games at the UCT sport fields.
Enter yourself or your child on the day of the race or at the Expo on Wednesday 19th of March or Thursday 20th of March.
If running is not your thing then why not support your friends or loved ones and be a top spectator at one of these spectator hot spots along the route:
For more information on the marathon read all events details in the Two Oceans Marathon Event.
