Lance Armstrong visits South Africa for health care campaign
Cyclist Lance Armstrong will make his first visit to South Africa early next year for the Unite 4 Health charity campaign.

One of the world's top athletes, cyclist Lance Armstrong, will make his first visit to South Africa early next year.

The seven-time Tour De France winner arrives in January for the Unite 4 Health charity campaign. He will do a fund-raising banquet and will visit health clinics and development projects around the country.

Unite 4 Health is spearheaded by Adcock Ingram, a division of food and healthcare giant Tiger Brands and aims to improve healthcare facilities and services. Unite 4 Health spokesperson Linda Bam says Armstrong's visit will be a boost for the programme.

The 34-year-old Armstrong has made a point of championing health causes away from the cycling circuit, most notably in his LiveStrong campaign to raise funds for cancer research and treatment.

Armstrong himself made a miraculous recovery from testicular cancer and went on to win the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times from 1999 to 2005. He has won numerous sportsman of the year accolades over the years.

To book your seat at the Unite 4 Health benefit dinner, contact Adrian on 082 653 816, or e-mail adrian@avantage.co.za, or visit Computicket.
