Dazzling Theme for MCQP This Year
The MCQP Theme for 2008 has been launched and it's all about "Lights, Camera, Action!"

The 2008 MCQP will once
again take on an exciting theme that takes creativity to a whole new level.

The producers of MCQP were thrilled recently to announce this year’s theme to a jam-packed crowd at The Loft Lounge.

The theme will highlight the golden years of Hollywood and guarantee to get everyone into their Oscar Award-winning best costume!

The party in the trendy Cape Town suburb of De Waterkant was the launching platform for the theme - Lights, Camera, Action! – for MCQP 2008.

So, whether you come
dressed up as Dolly Parton (stuffed socks don’t count), Indiana Jones, Marilyn Monroe or one of the Pirates of The Caribbean, you will be assured of receiving the red carpet treatment.

At this MCQP, the paparazzi will be clicking away, the champagne will be resting in the ice buckets and an array of hot men and ladies will be in attendance, so you will be assured of the most glitzy event this side of Hollywood… or Bollywood.

To enhance the Hollywood effect, you will be greeted by a mob of “star-struck” fans the minute you arrive, and to guarantee that your very own publicity shot is taken in true style, MCQP will provide flashing lights, writhing bodies and out-of-this-world décor.

But wait, there’s more…! Put your best foot forward and enter the event and you’ll be met by Hollywood-like sets, extras, actors, production staff and pulsating dance floors – truly the stuff of stars.

And the best part of this year’s glamorous top event on the South African gay calendar is that no nominations for Oscars will be required as everyone will be winners.

The venue is still to be confirmed, but you can be sure of one thing, Tinseltown is coming to Cape Town in December.

Tickets for MCQP 2008 will be on sale from mid-October with the usual early bird discounts for tickets applying.

All MCQP tickets will have special Production Pass features using new technology never before used in South Africa.

Good Hope FM, the radio station that connects Cape Town, has come on board as media partner for the event in 2008.

“We are so excited and hyped for this year’s MCQP!” says Blaine Shapiro-Dodds from Good Hope FM.

“We like the strategic shift that has happened recently and have committed ourselves to partnering with the MCQP brand as it heads back to its roots. It’s all good!” Dodds quips.

MCQP Director Ian McMahon commenting on the competition entries said, “There were 3 tickling themes that were all so close and that’s great news,” adding that “Cape Town’s creative clans were all ready to get sewing, planning and partying!”

Molo says: “So expect to see your favourite Hollywood star soon, distributing all the info, at a (gay) bar near you!

Further info on MCQP 2008 and ticket sales, as well as other gay events in Cape Town can be expected in our monthly Editor’s Picks Newsletter.“
