Savoy Cabbage is located on the Hout Street side of the historic Heritage Square in central Cape Town, and they’re one of the Cape Town restaurants that will be open for New Year’s Eve 2008/2009.
The menu changes daily and impeccable service is reflected in outstanding attention to detail, from Cabbage motif chandeliers to salt dishes and fine table appointments.
The Savoy Cabbage has been awarded Three "Top Ten" awards in two years, has featured in Wine magazine's "Top 100" for every year since 1998 and offers an air conditioned and secure environment.
This year’s New Year’s Eve menu:
On Arrival: Canapés with a Champagne Cocktail, followed by Chilled Peach and Riesling Soup
Entrée: Torchon of Duck Foie Gras with Sour Fig Syrup, Figs and Brioche OR Grilled Vegetable Terrine with Parsley Vinaigrette and Black Pepper Ricotta OR Terrine of Scallops and Norwegian Salmon with Grapefruit Jelly and Leaf Salad.
Starters: West Coast Oyster Custard with Fried Oysters, Braised Leeks and Beetroot and Ginger Emulsion OR Shitake Custard with Spinach and Porcini Butter, both served with Herb Salad.
Main Course: Rare marinated Venison Loin with a Venison and Cranberry Sausage, Butternut Caponata and Poivrade Sauce OR Open Ravioli of Asparagus, Artichoke, Peas and Fennel with a Roasted Tomato Sauce OR Cape Linefish and Cape Rock Lobster Tail with Fluffy Spinach Bites, Vegetable Pearls and a Champagne Butter Sauce.
Desserts: Whipped Brie Cheese with Cherries, Almond Tart with Apricot Compote.
After Dinner: Filter Coffee and Truffles
