The Riding Centre, in Hout Bay, is one of Cape Town’s best-kept secrets. Set on a farm, it offers a quiet break from bustling city life and promises adventure for people of all ages.
It has adorable horses and ponies, as well as bunnies, a pig, a miniature horse, a sheep and other animals - all with quirky names that’ll make you smile. Learn to ride on the farm, hold your child’s birthday party there, or stock up on organic vegetables while you’re there.

RIDE A HORSE & GRAB COFFEE
Horse-riding lessons at The Riding Centre have the added bonus of spectacular scenery. It's located on a farm surrounded by mountains - you could easily forget you’re in the city when spending a day there. It offers riding lessons for people of all ages and at various horse-riding levels, and you can learn from an expert in a safe, controlled environment. The school’s facilities include 2 sand-jumping arenas, a dressage area and a cross-country course.
The Riding Centre has numerous wonderful horses and ponies, breeds such as Percheron Cross, Welsh ponies and boerperd. After your lesson, stop by at the café for a coffee and a bite to eat.

PLAN A UNIQUE BIRTHDAY PARTY
With various themes to choose from, animals to meet, fun interactive play areas and lots of adventure – The Riding Centre is a wonderful venue to hold a child’s birthday party.

There are two venue options: The Garden Playground and The Adventure Playground. The Garden Playground is covered with grass and has swings, slides and fun playground equipment. The Adventure Playground has various obstacles for kids, from a climbing wall and cargo nets to a tree house.

KIDS CAN PLAY WITH THE PONIES
The Riding Centre offers pony play and rides for kids to enjoy. The rides cost R70 per child and are led by an adult at all times to ensure the little ones are having fun and are safe.

Pony playtime gives kids the chance to learn a bit more of what it takes to care for one of the animals as they learn the basics of grooming. They can also experience various crafts, picnic rides and more.

MEET THE OTHER FURRY FRIENDS
Come and meet the fluffle of bunnies, guinea pigs, Henry the sheep, Tinkerbell the miniature horse, Lola the goat and Riley the pig. These four-legged friends have names that are as unique as their individual personalities and kids will love meeting them at The Riding Centre’s touch farm.

STOCK UP WITH ORGANIC VEGETABLES
The Riding Centre is also the home of Kronendal Greens, which grows organic vegetables, microgreens and hydroponics (plants that are not grown in soil, but in liquid with added nutrients). You can preorder vegetables and herbs from the farm, at affordable prices.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 5:30pm, Saturdays, 9:30am - 11am and 2:30pm -4pm. Closed on Sundays.
