The Station on Bree

Cape Town’s newest underground meeting place

Officially opening its doors on Saturday, 15 October, The Station on Bree offers Cape Town and international folk several themed ‘stations’ aptly – and seamlessly – fitted with familiar hallmarks of the United Kingdom’s (UK) famous tube system.

Customers are reminded to ‘Mind the Gap’ as they navigate the large venues mix of locations (coffee, cocktail, food and dance ‘stations’), all designed to appeal to clientele at different times of the day and night. Adding to the electric underground vibe is the variety of music and DJs, guest engagements, world-class coffee, signature cocktails and an epic dance floor that the space promises.

According to The Station on Bree founder Neil Basel, until now there has been no venue offering a diverse platform of entertainment, a themed-destination and a prime location: “Our character-filled heritage venue now offers a convincing commuter experience across multiple levels and platforms, from coffee to club vibe. The concept is hip and colourful and the design team has enjoyed working the theme throughout the venue from train seating to courtyard bus shelter to underground dance floor.”

For the morning rush, The Station on Bree houses local premium coffee brand Mischu as well as fresh artisan pastries. Further down the 'platform', and appealing to the after-work, before- and after-dinner crowds, sits the cocktail station. The Station on Bree also has a wide selection of MCC and champagne on offer as well as various reds and whites. On the foodie side, diners can expect to find a selection of street food – think pita kebabs, bunny chow sliders and falafels – ideal to be enjoyed at any time of day.

"The Station on Bree is set to be a hot spot for before and after-dinner drinks. We have created the kind of atmosphere that invites coffee culture aficionados to remain with us as the day unfolds, whether connecting to Wi-fi, working or networking, and to invite their friends to join them for after-work drinks," Neil concludes.

We Love that The Station on Bree uses the 11 tubes lines and colours from the London Underground as inspiration behind its 11 signature Station cocktails. Apparently there is a 12th concoction coming soon…

NOTE: ’Mind The Gap’ is an audible or visual warning phrase issued to rail passengers to take caution while crossing the horizontal, and in some cases vertical, spatial gap between the train doors and the station platform. The phrase was first introduced in 1969 on the London Underground in the UK.

Tip: The Station on Bree offers guests FREE Wi-fi.
