Kalk Bay Flavour Plus Something Fresh at Each of These Three Hot Spots
The renowned seafood restaurant, Harbour House, boasts menu items fresh from the sea
Peri-peri prawns, seafood by the platter and that laid-back Southern Peninsula beach-style vibe. It’s no wonder that Harbour House has been a staple of the Kalk Bay harbour for so many years. Locals and tourists alike know it’s the spot for good seafood and a great night out.
Have you experienced all the Harbour House restaurants, though? They’ve now also brought that Kalk Bay flavour to Constantia Nek and the V&A Waterfront. And, although the excellent menu and good service come standard, each location brings something new to the table: A unique ambience and environment, making all three locations something special to explore.
Here’s what’s special to discover for yourself at each branch of Harbour House:
THE HARBOUR VIEWS OF KALK BAY
The flagship branch is situated in the picturesque Kalk Bay village and has beautiful views of the working harbour, the Hottentots Holland mountain range and False Bay. The menu is ocean-themed with highlights including Mozambican-style peri-peri prawns and delicious shellfish and seafood platters for those who like a variety. There is an extensive sushi bar, as well as salads and some non-seafood mains, including steak and a rack of lamb.
The decor with its white floor and blue-hued walls, make you feel as if you are at a beach house. The restaurant is situated right on the water’s edge so that it looks as if you are floating on the ocean. Harbour House Kalk Bay is also a great venue for corporate functions, tour groups and wedding receptions, and offers visitors exquisite cuisine, and friendly service.
ON THE HILLS OF CONSTANTIA NEK
With panoramic views of the Constantia Valley, the oldest wine-producing region in Africa, Harbour House Constantia Nek makes the most of the rustic appeal of the original wine farm it’s built on while still providing a modern and relaxed space.
The fine-dining menu includes the classic seafood that Harbour House is known for, as well as various soups, salads and desserts. They also have a High Tea option, Mondays to Sundays between 2pm and 5pm, whereby you can pair set menus with tea/coffee or some bubbly. The venue can also be hired out for weddings or private functions, there is ample space, and the decor is understated and simple so that it can become whatever you wish.
THE GLAMOUR OF THE V&A WATERFRONT
The luxury setting of the V&A Waterfront, gives this Harbour House branch a very upmarket and contemporary feel. The restaurant is located right at the harbour overlooking the water, allowing you to watch the boats as they dock. The best view, however, is from the deck, so make sure to book a table there so that you won’t be disappointed.
Fresh line fish is brought in daily by local fishermen and is processed by the company’s own fish processing outlet. They also have a range of sushi available, as well as a sushi platter and wine special.
While each outlet has its own unique perks, the extensive seafood menu of Harbour House ensures that wherever you taste their food you are guaranteed quality food and a good time.
