Your guide to what to do and where to go this Freedom Day in Cape Town
Africa’s first Radisson RED in Cape Town
Discover the fabulous new hotel in the Silo District
The latest vibrant hive of cultural ventures - The Silo District - will soon be the home to Africa’s first Radisson RED Hotel. The recently revamped area is perfect for this unique hotel which, with it, brings a culture of art, fashion and music - ideal for the area.
The hotel will be opening their doors towards the end of 2017, brilliant for the December holiday season. The Hotel is said to bring with it a new, old philosophy which is sure to reinvigorate the Cape Town hospitality industry. “The philosophy encapsulates embracing a mindset of freedom, fun, flexibility and looks to implement that with a fabulous new guest experience,” Dale Simpson explained.
Simpson is the curator of the Radisson RED Hotel in Cape Town and has said that the hotel will offer, “an exuberant and unique take on modern hospitality”. Further he stated that the V&A Waterfront, with the leading architects involved in the Silo Districts transformation, has created an area for modern sustainability. The hotel will be occupying SIlo Six, situating it amidst the excitement of the city’s nightlife.
The RED will neighbour the highly-anticipated Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), which is set to open 27 September 2017. Simpson stated that because art is such a central theme in the hotel, it's only fitting that they would be positioned next door to the, “world’s largest museum [which is] dedicated to showcasing contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.”
The magnificently dynamic location and ageless millennial lifestyle exuded by the hotel will offer 252 contemporary room, a fully equipped gym and have the capacity to house four events and game studios - ideal for high-octane events, meeting and social gatherings. We also love that the hotel welcomes all furry friends under 8kg to stay.
Simpson suggest the RED roof as a hangout spot for guests looking to kick back and chill; making it an ideal venue for drinks, a bit of a splash in the pool and a instagram selfie. While patons can enjoy a nibble at the OUI Bar + Ktchn, the resident bar and restaurant, patrons can also order via the RED app for a more convenient dining experience.
Finally Simpson has guaranteed tourists and locals alike that the, “Radisson RED is set to ignite the African hospitality experience. Forget stuffy hotels and rigid rules. Radisson RED is a revolution. From keyless entry to multifunctional social spaces, we’ve reinvented everything. We’ve made new rules. Welcome to the REDvolution Cape Town.”
We love that Cape Town will house the first Radisson RED in Africa.
