LOVE OF A DIFFERENT KIND
The jobs and homes of 138 employees from the Solms Delta Wine Farm are in jeopardy with the farm on the brink of closing. But it’s not a done deal, so to try to save the farm, they’re hosting an initiative, in conjunction with Rail Tourism, to raise funds. Their Sweet Valentine’s Day experience includes an exclusive rail experience on their Business Express train, a shuttle service from Stellenbosch Station and a Museum Tour unveiling the history of the farm. Then it’s time to sip and taste the farm’s offerings: enjoy a wine tasting before being driven by tractor to your picnic spot. Your specially prepared picnic basket for two contains chicken wings, salad, rooster bread, biltong, quiche, Salomie, cheese and dessert. So spread the love this Valentine’s Day and help save an historic farm, and all of its employees.
Cost: R800 per couple.

A RITUAL OF LOVE
From the people who gave us “a new way to hotel” comes a unique way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. It kicks off with a specially curated love potion served in a porron, a traditional Spanish vessel used in a ritual to symbolise the transition of day to night. Dinner follows with an array of sharing tapas such as fresh oysters, seared beef fillet and exotic tomatoes. The main is three sharing dishes including beef short rib, seared tuna and poached leeks, and you end the night with two sharing plates of chocolate marquise and vanilla pannacotta with textures of strawberry. To experience this indulgent evening, book your spot at the AC Hotel by Marriot Cape Town.
Cost: R800 per couple
