The Nasdak Crous Bar: A Panoramic Cape Town Experience on the Media24 Building
With cocktail and banquet options, two outdoor terraces, no restrictions on sound or decor, and 360-degree views, it’s easy to see why the Crous Bar is one of the coolest venues for hire
There are rooftop bars and then there is the Crous Bar – Media24’s public bar and private event space that turns every event into an iconic Cape Town experience, complete with 360-degree views from two decks and a glass interior space that overlooks Cape Town’s iconic harbour.
HIRE A BAR, GET AN ICONIC CITY EXPERIENCE
The Crous Bar is not your average rooftop bar for hire. Yes, it’s perched atop the iconic Media24 building in the heart of Cape Town’s Foreshore. And yes, there is a fully-stocked bar to serve sundowners so that you can toast the even more iconic Cape Town sunset. But how many rooftop bars do you know that can switch from a classy cocktail event for 80 people to an intimate banquet dinner without blinking? And that’s just the interior space we’re talking about, which also happens to have floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
THE FREEDOM TO CREATE THE EXPERIENCE YOU WANT
The Crous Bar comes stocked with added extras to match your event to your imagination. You can use the cocktail or banquet seating provided or decorate the venue as you like. There are no sound or decor restrictions, and no levy or fees on external suppliers, so you can bring in your own catering team without penalty. In fact, you can also bring your own wine and champagne at the very low corkage fee of R35 per bottle.
The space is also very generous with its venue times. All parties get exclusive use of the venue from 9am to midnight and all decorations and supplier equipment only need to be cleared by 9am the next morning. You can choose to keep the party going until 2am, but you will need to pay an hourly surcharge after midnight.
As for secure parking, the venue offers free parking from 3:30pm until the early morning, when the worker bees arrive. For full-day events, parking can be arranged at the CTICC building opposite for R65 per day. Make sure you book your year-end events or any November/December events early because the summer season gets fully booked up by August.
SUNDOWNER FRIDAYS FOR EVERYONE
You don’t have to shell out the big bucks to enjoy this iconic Cape Town experience. Every Friday, between 4pm and 8pm, the Nasdak and Crous Bar opens its doors and rooftop to sunset-seekers for Sundowner Fridays. This event is open to the public every Friday, unless the venue is booked for a private function. On Mondays, the Crous Bar updates its social media pages with information about Sundowner Fridays. The venue often hosts live music events, information about which is also available on social media.
Tip: To reach the Crous Bar, enter the main entrance of the Media24 building and sign in at reception. Take the lifts on the right to the 22nd floor and then exit. From here you will need to take a private lift up to the Nasdak on the 26th floor, where you will find the Crous Bar and rooftop terraces.
The Bill: R20 000 excluding VAT, which includes cocktail furniture or banquet seating, sound equipment and three audio-visual screens.
