New offerings: Drive-in and the exclusive Galileo Royale
The Galileo is back to give us more movie magic in the Mother City. Book a drive-in screening or its new offering, the Galileo Royale, an intimate and luxe movie night under the stars with very limited tickets (both experiences are covid-safe).
You'll find The Galileo at an exquisite outdoor location every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, showing one of its amazing line-up of films, from beloved classics to new favourites.
GET SPECIAL TREATMENT AT THE GALILEO ROYALE
The Galileo Royale is the team's newest offering. It takes place every Wednesday at various picturesque venues, including Suikerbossie in Hout Bay, Casa Labia in Muizenberg, The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel in Constantia, and Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront in Granger Bay. This VIP experience caters to a limited number of guests, keeping it socially distanced and exclusive.
Included in the ticket price is a live music performance, the movie of the night, as well as a back rest, blanket, welcome drink, appetiser and popcorn. Each venue’s restaurant will offer a limited movie-night menu, so you could also pair some delicious meals with your movie.
PARK OFF AT THE GALILEO DRIVE-IN
The Galileo Drive-In was born out of necessity in a time when lockdown rules meant that picnics were out. But it’s been so popular that it’s now a permanent feature, taking place from Friday to Sunday each week, with venues rotating between Constantia, Rondebosch, Gardens and Durbanville.
Cinema-goers reverse the car into a designated bay, set up a cuddle-pad in the boot, and then enjoy a blockbuster film. You can pre-order a selection of goodies with your tickets or bring along your own snacks. The huge benefit is that the car acts like a safe pod, so one is completely covid safe.

If you’re based in Cape Town or the Cape Winelands, you can now host your own Galileo experience in a venue of your choice, complete with the inflatable screen, audio-visual equipment and expert staff.
