Unique: New Year’s Eve in Cape Town

No more curfew: touch the clouds, dance to reggae, or party like you're at Studio 54

Out with curfew and in with 2022. There are great ways to celebrate NYE in Cape Town. From a night of chilled dancing to reggae at Mojo Market or a wild ‘70s disco extravaganza, to a thrilling ride up the Ski Hi Ride or watching the Beam of Hope from your home, you can end your year in any way that works for you. The closing times might differ due to curfew being lifted. 

PARTY AT CAPE TOWN'S SEXIEST CLUB

Getting into Darling is a thrill. On NYE, at about 5pm until curfew, visit Zsa Zsa and Darling for an epic party with DJ Dino Moran, Vasylyeva and Sarah Bee who will be playing you into 2022. There's 3 ways to get access to Cape Town’s secret and sultry nightclub. In this case, it is R200 for entrance into Darling. Find out more here.

TOUCH THE CLOUDS WITH THIS RIDE

The Ski-Hi Ride at Hotel Sky is one of only three thrill rides of its kind in the world. It extends 146 metres above the city bowl, launching from the 28th floor of Hotel Sky and catapulting you up a hair-raising 35-metres in a chair lift. For a second it’ll give you a bird’s eye view of the beauty of Cape Town. If a breathtaking drop sounds like a great way to seal the year, book your tickets now.

WATCH THE BEAM OF HOPE (FREE FROM HOME)

This year, the V&A Waterfront will again light the way for the beginning of the New Year with a bright beam of light that is visible across the peninsula. What will be different this time is that Cape Town Electric Violin and DJ collaboration DeVille will lead the celebration with a performance 10 minutes before midnight, ahead of the New Year countdown, for those who will be at the Waterfront. V&A Waterfront restaurants celebrating New Year’s Eve events will host their own New Year’s Eve special events in line with Covid-19 regulations. Watch the beam light up from home or live the experience in-person at the Waterfront.
