Is the Nasdak Rooftop Venue the Most Panoramic Event Space in Cape Town?
With mountain, harbour and city views from the Crous Bar, banquet hall and two terraces, it’s easy to see why the Nasdak is a popular event space in Cape Town’s city centre – plus: take a virtual tour of Nasdak
You don’t have to be an investigative journalist to work out that the 26th floor of the iconic Media24 building will have jaw-dropping, 360-degree views from its prime perch on the Cape Town Foreshore. But maybe it is breaking news to you that the Nasdak event space, with its interleading spaces made up of two rooftop terraces, indoor banqueting area and a bar with breathtaking views of Cape Town’s working harbour, could be the perfect venue for your next private or corporate celebration. Whether you need to host a cocktail reception for 250 people or seat a wedding party of 180 people, this venue has it all.
WHERE YOU GET SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU BARGAINED FOR
Nasdak is the Foreshore’s worst kept secret. Why? Because the moment you step out into the space, you’ll start posting photos on social media of its sweeping city views through frameless glass windows or from the outdoor terraces, much to the envy of your friends 26 storeys below.
One of the great benefits of the Nasdak is that you get so much more than you bargained for. The two terraces provide spill-over space for cocktails and drinks. The large indoor hall can seat 180 people and comes with both terraces and the separate Crous Bar. Both the hall and bar are equipped with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that make you feel like you are floating on the ocean or ascending Table Mountain, depending on which room you sip your next cocktail in. And that’s just for starters.
When you hire this space you get so many extras. There are no sound or decor restrictions and no levy or fee on external suppliers. In fact, not only can you bring in your own caterers without penalty, you can also bring in your own wine and champagne at the very low corkage fee of R35 per bottle.
FULLY EQUIPPED AND READY, COME RAIN OR SHINE
The Nasdak comes fully equipped with cocktail and cafe seating, sound systems, projector, PA system and three TV screens to showcase your public brand or private memories. You can also relax because it supplies free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, disabled access and an onsite manager who is available to you throughout the event. And don’t stress about the weather.
The indoor spaces are so spacious and generous with their stunning city views that even a mid-winter event will feel completely unique and breathtaking. On that note, make sure you book your year-end and any November/December events early because the summer season gets fully booked up by August.
MORE TIME TO RELAX AND PARTY ON
The venue is also very generous with the time that you can spend in the space. All parties get exclusive use of the venue from 9am to 12am (yes, we mean midnight). You can continue the party until 2am, but you will need to pay an hourly surcharge after 12am. And you don’t have to clear out immediately. All decorations and supplier equipment only need to be cleared by 9am the morning after the event. As for secure parking, the venue offers free parking from 3:30pm until the early morning, when the worker bees arrive. For full-day conferences, parking can be arranged at the CTICC building opposite for R65 per day.
Tip: To access the Nasdak rooftop on the 26th floor, guests need to enter the Media24 building and take the lifts on the right to the 22nd floor. From there, they will need to take a private elevator, which will take them to the 26th floor where they will find the Nasdak.
The bill: R40 000 (excluding VAT) for exclusive use from 9am to 12am (or 2am at an additional R2000/per hour surcharge). This price includes basic furnishings, PA system and sound equipment.
Spaces included: The main Nasdak hall, the Crous Bar and both terraces.
Capacity: Hosts 250 people for cocktails or 180 for a sit-down dinner.
For a smaller, more intimate event, you also have the option of renting out just the Crous Bar space.
Want to check out the space or grab after work drinks to the backdrop of amazing city and mountain views? Good news, the Crous Bar is open to the public for Sundowner Fridays.
