Take a dip into our many rock pools
What’s better than a dip in a rock pool for a fresh start? Nothing. So do it! Since the water crisis means we can’t fill our swimming pools, cooling off in a rock pool is what we will do. Also, this is a great opportunity to discover the many beautiful rock pools dotted around the city. We have some recommendation for you in 7 Natural Rock Pools For Adventure Junkies.

Eat, drink and be merry at Beerhouse
Beerhouse on Long Street has 99 different beers for you to try, as well as selected spirits. If you are looking for a fun day out, Beerhouse not only offers delicious brews, but you’re also spoilt for choice with their food menu which features favourites Flammkuchen (German pizza), ribs and more. Gather your friends and make a day of it.

One last ride at Ratanga
Cape Town’s only theme park Ratanga Junction is closing in 2018. For 19 years the theme park has been “the wildest place in Africa”. So for one last time on the very first day of the year, take your family and enjoy a wild ride, or two, on the Cobra, the Monkey Falls or the Congo Queen.

Century Boulevard | Century City | +27(0)21 550 8504 | Open: 10am - 5pm

Go on an adventurous drive at Aquila
Gather the family and head to Aquila Private Game Reserve. Located only two hours outside of Cape Town, the drive to the reserve will add to the adventure of the day. You’ll get to see the Big Five, relax in the spa and enjoy a delicious buffet meal.

R46 | Touws River | +27(0)21 430 7260 | Open: 7am - 6pm

Go tobogganing  at Coolrunnings
Do something exhilarating at the downhill tobogganing track in Bellville. Tobogganing is similar to bobsleighing, which is a winter Olympic sport. How it works is the toboggans run up and down steel tracks to provide a thrilling ride you won’t soon forget. It starts at the foot of the hill from where you and your toboggan are hauled up to the top by reinforced steel cables. This five-minute calm before the storm is a great time to reflect on your impending hurtle down the slopes! This is definitely one the kids will love.

Carl Cronje Drive | Tyger Valley | +27(0)21 949 4439 | Open: 11am - 6pm

It’s market day at the Mojo Market
Forget the “new year, new me” and try instead the “new year, new market”. If you haven’t been to the Mojo Market in Sea Point then start your year off by heading there. What you can expect is 80 stalls, which include 45 designer retail stalls, 20 food vendors, two bars, a daily fresh food market, a live entertainment stage and a wellness zone. So that’s a whole day of activities sorted right there!

34 Regent Road | Sea Point | +27(0)21 422 2444 | Open: 10am - 10pm
