  • Boschendal Wine Farm Cottages
    Boschendal estate, which sits just outside of Franschhoek and is one of the oldest wine farms in the country, has an enticing accommodation offering that features different types of self-catering cottages to suit the mood and purpose of guests’ holidays. All cottages have a fireplace (so they’re ideal for winter), a fully-kitted kitchen, elegant décor and comfortable bedrooms and furnishings, making them ideal bases from which to explore the Cape Winelands town.

  • Rickety Bridge Manor House
    Set within the Rickety Bridge wine estate, an enchanting farm that overlooks sprawli vineyards and the majestic Wemmerschoek Mountains, the Manor House’s three en-suite rooms have every luxury of a four-star hotel as well as a romanticism of a time gone-by. All rooms have air-conditioning, under-floor heating, satellite television, mini bars, tea and coffee facilities, and free Wi-fi connectivity.   • Blueberry Hill Cottages
    Blueberry Hill is a small wine farm in the heart of the Franschhoek mountains, just 2km from the village centre. Two luxurious self-catering cottages afford guests exceptional mountain views and valley vistas.   • Heidi Cottage
    This charming luxury four-star Franschhoek cottage is immaculately decorated and furnished in a Cape country style.   • La Galliniére Guest Cottages
    La Galliniére Guest Cottages are located on a boutique vineyard, just a 15-minute walk from the town centre. The three self-catering cottages each sleep between two and four guests, and provide some of the best value-for-money accommodation in the area. Each cottage includes a well-equipped kitchen, complimentary toiletries, satellite television, quality linen and towels and complimentary tea and coffee. The three-star cottages also have an outdoor swimming pool and braai facilities.

  • La Chataigne
    La Chataigne is situated on a working wine farm roughly a 10-minute drive from the Franschhoek centre, and guests can choose to stay in any one of three quaint, recently renovated cottages. This charming and wallet-friendly Franschhoek accommodation flanks the Kastange River, which runs along the border of the farm. The three-star cottages have spectacular mountain views, and they are the perfect place to relax and forget about the chaos of city life. All three cottages have en-suite bathrooms and fully-equipped kitchens, and there is a swimming pool and braai facilities. There are also terraces on both sides of each cottage, areas that lend themselves to comfortable indoor and outdoor living.
    Top tip: Take a stroll through the nearby pear orchard, and cool off in their modern swimming pool.

CAMPING, HOSTELS AND BACKPACKERS IN FRANSCHHOEK

  • Otters Bend Backpackers Lodge
    Otter’s Bend Lodge, in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, is the ideal, affordable country getaway for city dwellers and travellers on a strict budget. Each of the five, cosy log cabin rooms has a shower, basin and toilet en-suite with hot and cold running water. Although small and compact, the rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bedding, pillows and towels are provided. The large, open communal room is equipped with cutlery, crockery, fridge, microwave, kettle, hot plate and kitchen utensils. There is also a huge fireplace, and there are braai facilities. Additionally, in amongst the orchards, with access to the communal area and pool, is a camping area. Camping is limited to three two-man tents.
    Top tip: Situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River, this lodge has a tranquil ambience especially appealing to nature lovers. It is almost unbelievable to think that the village is only a 15-minute walk from the Otters Bend.
