World Travel Market Africa

Connect with tourism gurus and travel operators from around the world at this global expo in Cape Town

Discover the latest travel trends, products and businesses at this incredible networking opportunity that sees thousands of travel industry professionals congregate in the Mother City. The World Trade Market (WTM) Africa will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Wednesday, 19 to Friday, 21 April 2017.

Stakeholders in the South African tourism industry are invited to meet travel operators from around the world in order to create business relationships, launch products, enter new markets, promote brands, conduct market research, showcase destinations and interact with media professionals.

Around 5000 travel and tourism professionals, alongside 550 exhibitors, will attend this leading global business-to-business expo that will showcase the inbound and outbound travel markets from over 45 countries. This means that attendees will get access to unique business opportunities and top quality contacts from around the world. Through pre-scheduled appointments and on-site networking, guests can drive their commercial success with all-year-round connections and updates on industry news, developments and technologies.

WTM Africa is one of six shows in the WTM portfolio, with other exhibitions taking place in London, São Paulo, Dubai, Penang and Cannes. These expos place the focus on regional products and services while giving them a global reach that will boost the industry, and as such are the perfect platforms to exhibit African businesses to the world.

WHAT TO FIND AT THE 2017 WORLD TRAVEL MARKET AFRICA IN CAPE TOWN?

Following the vast amount of business that was conducted at last year’s expo, it is clear that WTM Africa gives the African travel industry a voice and a unique opportunity to invest in the future of the African tourism – all from under one roof. The show has several features:

  • Show Floor – This is where most of the exhibits, pavilions, educational theatres and face-to-face interactions will take place. A detailed floor plan is available on Africa.wtm.com that will show you exactly where you need to go to find the right countries or exhibitors for your business.

  • Digital Hub – This space is dedicated to those travel professionals looking to escape the bustling Show Floor, where they can charge or log onto their digital devices in the comfort of a more relaxed environment.

  • Travel Technology – This is a showcase within the showcase, highlighting one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. This space is dedicated to new innovations, products and technological services for the global travel industry. It is the perfect platform for suppliers to meet with buyers, and for guests to attend a number of travel technology seminars hosted by experts in the fields of blogging, social media, mobile and hospitality technology.

  • Seminars and workshops - Gain valuable insight into pertinent topics with multiple conferences and workshops on the event programme. Global experts will cover important news and challenges in the travel industry, presenting guests with a world-class learning opportunity. The best part is that these seminars are free! This year sees the new Outbound Travel Conference Theatre setting up camp at the expo. Learn about international and pan-African destinations through the interactive workshops that are designed to up-skill and educate guests. Each workshop will be hosted by an individual destination from around the world and will teach attendees more about the location, cities, activities and more.

  • WTM Buyers’ Club – This business club is for senior travel industry decision makers, such as tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers and private travel arrangers with direct purchasing capabilities. Guests who meet the criteria will automatically receive a Buyers’ Club Buyers status upon registration for WTM Africa 2017, and will get exclusive access to the WTM Buyers’ Club Lounge, access to an online diary to arrange meetings with exhibitors, an invitation to attend networking events, a free pre-scheduled appointments system with exhibitors and access to speed networking sessions (five minute mini-meetings within a 90-minute session).
